Land Speed Record in David?

I found these pictures and thought I would post them so that you can see that sometimes cool stuff does happen in David . This is 'Jim Jet Nelson's' car which has set 4 world records for a road vehicle. In other words these are not salt flats records, they are set on a highway. He apparently can go 0-100 in one second and will slurp through 110 gallons of jet fuel in 14 seconds. He was apparently scheduled to try to set a new record on a road in Panama and they were going to do it on the highway between David and Conception.

The car was on display over at the mall for about a month in Feb and March and then it left without running in David. It was supposed to have run on Mar 27. They must have deemed it too risky to try to pull off here. Probably too hard to keep the chickens off of the road, who knows. Personally I couldn't see it myself but they apparently did do it somewhere near Panama City. I am not sure what happened so I don't know for sure but I believe it did run.
