When Donna and Ron were here we took a trip to Bocas del Toro. Bocas is one of my favorite places to go because it is such a pretty drive. We stayed for 2 nights. Bocas is on an island and accessible by ferry or water taxi. We leave the car on the mainland and take the water taxi. Mostly you can walk around as the town is small. I love the feel of it because there are so few cars you can wander the streets like a pack of dogs. It is kind of the Banff of Panama. Whilst there we took a local bus to a local beach (Drago). We debated renting bicycles and peddling there but then decided for lack of time we would take the bus. Turned out that was an excellent decision as the road was steep and windy (as in lots of turns) and we would have pooped out on the first hill.
We stopped first at some kind of an Eco University to let a group of kids from Vernon BC off and there was a baby Capuchin monkey there. It was the cutest thing but very bad. It had monkey A.D.D. and was just all over the place. At one point he grabbed a flower from the bouquet on the table and sprinted up into the rafters with it. I took this picture which I thought was so cute. The guy says they are going to have to get rid of it as is was becoming a real nuisance.

Did the little walk on to the beach past a few houses and restaurant.
We then took a water taxi over to starfish beach to snorkel and look for starfish. We weren't disappointed there were lots of them. Near the water taxi were these posts, not sure what they were there for but the seagulls had laid claim to them and each one was occupied. If a new comer came along and tried to join in there would be a big squabble and invariably the interloper would loose.
As we left in the water taxi to go back to the mainland at the end of our stay there was a tall ship anchored off the coastline. That was a treat to see.
