This is what John Gilmore's house looked like when I left in April of last year. He was making good progress and everything looked great. We were looking forward to having a new permanent neighbor when we got back as the house would be almost finished by then.
Well, we were in for a shock upon our return! The house sat abandoned almost the same as when we left. This picture was taken Dec 16 a full 8 months later. John had decided it was too hot where we are and decided to move up the mountain where is was cooler. He walked away from the construction and just left the site abandoned. He didn't even clean it up as you can see from the pictures. It was pretty disgusting and we were very disappointed. He put the house up for sale 'as is'.
Recently however, much to our relief, he has decided to finish the house on the outside at least, put a roof on it and get it repayoed and painted and clean up the ditch and do the driveway. At least this way if it sits for years we do not have to look at an eye sore across from our balcony.
