Yes, We HAVE Bananas

If you follow my blog you may remember this post from July 7th last year. This was Luis my gardener planting the banana trees. Well, flash forward 9 months and voila!
Here is what can happen with a plant here in 9 short months. It is now about 20 feet tall. Note all the new banana stalks which will each produce a new stem of bananas and below the mother plant has put out a stem of banana. It is huge (double click so that you can see it better) and will have more than 100 bananas on it. Of course it will be about 2 months before they ripen so the gardener and maid will get them but next year....just you wait.
This variety is called manzana bananas, manzana being the Spanish word for apple and they have such a delicious apple flavor that if you have ever eaten one you will be spoiled for bananas for the rest of your life.
