How Quickly Things Change

It really is amazing how quickly things change. Yesterday I told you that we wouldn't get the truck for a month, today they called and said that there was a truck in Panama City that had been ordered and then the guy couldn't get financing and so suddenly we have a truck that will be here on Monday. A quick trip to the bank for a money order, a quick trip to the insurance guy and then back to the Toyota dealership and Monday they will ship it, only because Thursday and Friday are holidays here related to Easter. The plate comes with the truck so you pay for that at the dealership. Insurance is interesting. We got the maximum liability coverage available...$100,000, the minimum being $5000. Women only pay 1/2 the deductable because they cause far fewer accidents (yes ladies, finally some recognition!) and there is no such thing as a lawsuit in Panama. Oh you can sue, but they say good luck. If someone hits you and is under insured then the insurance company will pay and try to collect from them. I say good luck when you see some of the beaters around here. Insurance costs are about the same as at home, for a good driver. They don't start to depreciate the vehicle until after a year which is nice as well.

Next order of business, the survey. Turns out that the drop on our land starts about where the front of the house is and most of the fall is across the length of the house. This means that there will have to be a drastic change to the look of the house as the overall drop is about 6 feet and water runoff here is such that you don't want to be much below the grade of the road. This means that the garage will have to be dropped down to the point that we will not be able to walk out of the bonus room onto the top of the outdoor patio. No huge big deal but the door will have to be relocated to the side of the garage. We hadn't really planned on such major changes, but maybe that architect will have to earn his money now.

It was very pleasant out there today, not too hot unless you were baking in the sun and lots of birds and butterflies. I have posted a picture of one of the see through butterflies that I have seen along the way. Notice the outline of the grass blade behind his wing.
