This is how you pour a column or support beam when labor is cheaper than a machine. First of all you mix a slurry of cement in a cement mixer (or by hand if a mixer is not available). Then you haul it one wheel barrow at a time over near where it is needed and shovel it into a 5 gallon pail.
That done, you hoist it up to the guy on the scaffold who then....
pours it into the form. The 'chute' into which he is pouring is a rusty piece of corrigated tin shoved into the form. No plywood here, those boards it is my guess are probably some kind of local hardwood. Maybe not the best grade but probably hardwood. Not the fastest method, but hey, it works!
