WOW! It Has Changed!

It looks a little lopsided without the roof on both sides but you get the picture. The land developer has yet to get our electricity connected despite promises since March (very costly and frustrating) and so the roof will not change anytime soon. The roof is constructed of steel but the generator which we were renting threw a rod and there are no more to be had in the area. A-g-g-g-g-g-h!!!! Notice how you can see out the back from the windows in the octagonal study.

Those wooden thingies sticking out are decorative and will be painted in the end.

This is the front portico so there will be decorative iron on the first set of arches and then the doors and windows will be set in the second set of arches. This way the doors and windows can be secured without having bars on them. These guys use wrought iron like a decorative feature on the houses. This also allows us to have the doors and windows open all night if we wish without compromising our security. Notice how you can see out the back from the front...cool

Now I am in the living room. The door to the kitchen is to the left and the door to the patio is in the arch on the left. The other 2 arches are windows. On the patio to the right are doors from the bedroom and a window from the sitting room off of the bedroom.

Finally I am in the doorway to the patio. The patio is my favorite area. It is very large and is going to be very pretty. The first 2 arches on the right will have concrete balustrades and then iron at the top and the arch on the right will have a wrought iron door that slides closed and locks onto the post to the left. During the day it will all be open but at night it will be locked and again gives us security to leave our windows and doors open should we choose. We are going to extend this floor area that I am standing on out about 3 feet to give us a bigger sitting area at the top part as it is completely shaded and will be cooler than the bottom level. There are 2 steps down to the bottom area.

We are happy we came when we did as there are a few changes we have made already and a few non fatal things that would be too difficult to change and we will just live with. Note to self -It does pay to stick around as much as possible during construction as not everybody shares your vision if the plans are unclear!!
