A couple of lot owners that I have had contact with seem to have the mistaken notion that they bought a plot of land such as a farm or as they call it here a finca which is a piece of stand alone property. This is not the case, we have all bought a lot in a development and as such are all in this together. There is no building commitment which is nice in that we are under no pressure to build and have time to make our dreams materialize, whatever they may be. The downside of all of this is that, out of sight out of mind seems to apply in come cases. Some of the lot owners have been very diligent about ensuring that their lots look nice at all times and some don't seem to see it as a priority. Unfortunately the old adage, "United we stand, divided we fall" does apply here. There are a few lot owners who have expressed an interest in selling their lots. If half of the lots are not maintained, it drags down the look of the whole place. I have tried to show in the following photos how that works. 
Above are several lots that have been cleaned on a regular basis. You may have guess they belong to Harry and me.
Across the road are lots that have not been maintained and left to grow over.
This is what you would see upon driving in. Now it is difficult to make it out in the pictures as the lots on the left may look lush but in reality they just look unkempt. They are a breeding ground for venomous snakes which puts us all at risk. You could never walk in one without risking an encounter therefore the lot could never be shown properly to a prospective buyer.
The lot above has been maintained for a year now and is well on it's way to being a nice looking piece of property.
Swing to the left and the vines and noxious plants take over choking out everything, including the pifas.

I hope you can visualize the importance of regular maintenance for these lots. The costs are minimal even though it is very labor intensive work for the men that clean them.
