Panama Earthquake, Terremoto, Today Felt in Costa Rica

LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – A strong Panama earthquake today has been felt inCosta Rica. A Panama terremoto today Friday, December 02, 2011 struck in the morning hours. No reports of damage have been detailed yet by news.
Panama experienced a 5.0 magnitude temblor today, USGS reports to news. The terremoto struck shortly before 2 am Friday. USGS indicates to news that the quake had a nominal depth and hence was felt across a wide, a relatively well-populated, region. The quake struck only six miles below the earth’s surface.
Today’s temblor was centered twenty-three miles from David, Panama. It was sixty-nine miles from Bocas del Toro. The quake struck roughly two hundred miles west of Panama City. The terremoto was also twenty-seven miles east of Golfito, Costa Rica.

The quake was centered inland, east of highway 2. The temblor was northwest of Carrizales, Guarumai, and Santo Tomas. Local news puts the quake east of Puerto Armuellas and Berba. The quake was centered in a populated regionsouth of the Parque Nacional Volcan Baru.
