The counters here are made of a 2"poured concrete slab. There will be a poured
cabinet base on the floor with a 3" toe kick. The bottom of the cabinet will be tiled and the granite will sit on top of the concrete slab. The
cabinets then are built without boxes. They have doors and dividers but the back and bottom are tile or concrete. These are the counters in the kitchen. You can see the hole for the sink which has been left as an opening. The sink is situated to look into the living room so that I can watch TV whilst slaving in the kitchen. The fridge goes in the spot straight ahead.
This picture shows where the stove will be and the island will be in the center. The hole in the floor is where the plumbing was moved because the plan had it too close to the pantry to
accommodate the island without running interference on the pantry door. They moved it over about 16 inches .
This is the laundry room counter with the opening for the sink.
Probably the most important counter is the work bench in the garage where Harry can keep himself happy whilst enjoying the view of the great outdoors.
And last but not least the outdoor cooking area with a sink and a
cooktop so that we don't have to heat up the house with the gas stove. The BBQ will go beside this counter. The bricks you see get
repayoed so that they are smooth not rough. The pipe sticking up is a floor drain. It will be cut off when the tile is done.
